He-Technology for Geothermal reservoirs prospecting
A natural geothermal reservoir is an underground volume of rock characterized by increased fracturing and saturated with a hot fluid - water or steam, with the first type being the most common.
Geothermal resources are resources of thermal energy of a hot fluid contained in a geothermal reservoir and related to natural renewable resources. Thermal energy is used to generate electricity in geothermal power plants, heating and hot water supply.

JSC "Heologic" offers a method of surface helium survey in order to search for geothermal reservoirs.
It was noted that in the waters of thermal springs, subsurface gas near the springs, as well as in surface watercourses in zones of increased heat flow, there are increased helium content, which greatly exceed the background (Roberts et al. 1975; Gregory and Durance, 1987; Corazza et al ., 1993).
The increased helium content in the zones of increased heat flow is associated with the discharge of thermal waters and can be used as a prospecting sign of underground geothermal reservoirs.
1. Analysis of the geologic structure of the area
At this stage, an assessment is made of the probability of detecting geothermal reservoirs in the area, based on the available data on the distribution of heat flow on the surface and the geological characteristics of the section - lithology of rocks and tectonic faults, as well as on the presence of surface manifestations of gases and hot springs.
The most promising objects for setting up work are determined; in the absence of data, the entire area is investigated.
2. Performing areal in-situ helium survey and thermometry
Areal helium survey in subsoil gas and thermometry in boreholes with a depth of 1 m are performed. Measurement of helium content in the waters of hot springs (if any) and surface streams.
3. Integration with geological and geophysical materials
The results of helium survey (map of helium anomalies) and thermometry are integrated with the available geological and geophysical materials, - electrical exploration, magnetic exploration, seismic exploration, gravity exploration, thermometry, if necessary, with remote sensing data.
As a result of the work, local zones of increased permeability are mapped - the discharge channels of thermal waters, according to the nature of the distribution of anomalies, a forecast of the distribution of a probable geothermal reservoir is given. the locations of priority geothermal wells are recommended.
